Playtech in Hot-Water

The conclusion from an internal investigation which was carried out by iPoker has led to there being a ban imposed on all player-to-player transfers on Playtech's iPoker network.

Apparently the online poker affiliate PokerVIP has allegedly been allowing players from the USA to access the network through virtual private networks.  The affiliate Muchos Poker has also be banned from accessing iPoker with the network stating that they have 'security concerns.'

It seems that players from the USA were allowed to cash in and out from European poker sites without having the worry of ID verification.

Playtech obviously do not want this issue to affect the company's entry into the online gambling market in the USA, so the stakes are high who have previously been playing the game by the rules in the USA (they left the American market as soon after the UIGEA was imposed.) 

The thing is that digital milarkying is part of a problem that is sure to raise its head over and over again, causing problems for the company concerned.

The complicated nature of what has happened is still be assessed by Playtech as the argument from those who issue licenses may decide that a company who cannot determine if any one player comes from a regulated environment, well then, how could they possibly determine if a player is from a certain state?

News such as this only goes to show how complex the gaming industry is with certain countries having their bans and restrictions when the people who live in those countries will find a way to place a bet if they so desire.  This type of news does not surprise many folk out there and although this is obviously a worrying time for Playtech there is interest about how this situation will be resolved.
